INNOVATIVE LESSON PLAN-1

1.       Students must read and enjoy the poem.
2.       Students must understand the value of attention in class.
3.       Students must understand the sense of humour introduced in the poetry.
Main aim of the teacher
1.       To give students the knowledge  about  different kinds of poem.
2   To make the students understand the value of attention in classroom.

Warming Activity
                Teacher creator an informal interaction with the students to make a fresh environment for the students to start the class.

Introducing the Author
                Teacher introduces the author  to the students by using a chart containing the profile of Nandita Das.
 
 Nandita Das was born in Culcutta. Her poetry is filled with rich humour, great imagery and Philosophical thoughts while at college, her poem Stalemate was published in an anthology by the poet’s international Organisation, in 1991. The poem Newton’s Law is taken from her collection of poems Colours of Delight




Students became active and ready to start the class.


Explanation of the Title
                Teacher asks an explanation of the title from the students side and later explains the title to the students.

Leading to the Topic
                Teacher asks  the students about their opinions.
1.       How should a student behave in a classroom?
2.       What are the things a student should do while he/she is in a classroom?
3.       How many kind of poem do they know?
4.       What kind of poem will they write, if they are asked to write ne poem?

Presentation/Model Reading of the Poetry
                Teacher reads the poetry with correct stress and pronunciation.

Silent Reading
                Teacher asks the students to read the poem silently, indefinitely their difficulties and understand the beauty of the poem along with the message the poet wants to convey through her experience.

Presentation of Difficult Words
                Teacher presents the meaning of the difficult words by using slides.

Inattentive-Someone who is inattentive is not paying complete attention.
Random –A random method is one in which all the people or things have an equal chance of being chosen.
Escaping –Succeed in getting away from it.
Flounder –If criticising someone for not making decisions or for not knowing what to say or do.
Trembling –Shake slightly because of fear or cold.
Roar –Make a very loud noise/laughter.

Reading and Explanation of the Poetry
                Teacher reads the poem again along with the explanation of the poem.

Group Activity
                Teacher divides the class into four group and ask each group to explain the poem in their own way using any innovative method (if can be role play,  monoact, using  placards etc.)

Discourse Construction
                Teacher asks the students to write a conversation between Nandita Das and Teacher, where the teacher is appreciating Nandita Das for her way of answering the question (three dialogues





Students actively participated and responded to each question.







Learners listen carefully.



Learners reads  the poem silently.





Learners understand, learns and notes down the meaning.












 


Learners were very interested in doing the activity and later brought forward great performance.

 
Learners write the conversation.

Questioning
                Teacher asks some questions to the students to check their understanding.
      1.       Why do you think some children hate to go to school?
      2.       Why didn’t the poet look up at the teacher?
      3.       Why did the class roar with laughter?
      4.       How did the poet demonstrate Newton’s law?


Learners actively participate and answer the question.









Conclusion
                Teacher concludes the class happly by explaining the whole chapter and profile of the author.
Follow up Activity
                Imagine yourself ass Nandita Das and write a diary entry.
